I have a 1972 164 vehicle number 1646353070558. The car is in the USA, has about 121,000 miles on the odometer and is in very good condition. I bought it about 6 years ago from the widow of the original owner. According to the lady who sold the car to me, she and her husband were stationed in Germany in the US Army in 1972, took delivery there, and used the car while stationed in Europe and then had it shipped home. After her husband died, she decided to sell.
I have done extensive restoration and added several features which the original did not include such as electric door locks, electric windows(rear only) front seat heaters, intermittent window wiper function, electronic ignition using an after market kit in place of points and condensor, new upholstery, headliner and carpet, repaint in a green very similar but not identical to the original, and lots of mechanical refurbishment to brakes, steering and suspension. No modifications have been made to the engine.
